Business with Roses in Dobruja
Ina Erhan owns the rose plantations in Dobruja, on an area of 3 ha where she grows roses and rose hips.
“The business is a family business, with her husband involved in the farm work. At the moment more than 90 rose varieties are grown, mainly for sale as shrubs, with rose flowers as a complementary product. Initially, the agricultural work was done 100% manually and mechanically, by contracting the services of ploughing, cultivating, mechanical hoeing, digging trenches for planting, etc., but with the help of the Support Centre, we have managed to automate a large part of the work. The machine will optimise the direct costs related to the rose growing process” says Ina.
In 2022, the entrepreneur applied to the grant competition held within the Business Skills Hub, funded by the European Union and co-funded by Sweden through the East European Foundation within the project “Civil society contributes to inclusive and sustainable economic development in the Republic of Moldova” and obtained funding for the purchase of a Minitractor MINSK Forte engine tractor in the amount of 2550 euros, necessary for all agricultural work.
The entrepreneur plans to increase the number of varieties of roses planted, through rare varieties, which are sought after by flower growers, is turning to the foreign market, with a greater potential for purchase, having as a solution against the loss of plants – selling them in sawdust, wet. Alongside roses, Ina is also testing several varieties of hydrangea, thuja and decorative shrubs.
Ina Erhan is fully committed to the business, has no other source of income, and sees potential in developing the business. She is a graduate of Agra University, horticulture faculty and is passionate about what she does. She spends a lot of time growing roses in the open field and wants to be able to grow it gradually.
